FEDOSKINO Sculpted Miniature - ''Little Red Riding Hood meets the Wolf ''

. . . An uncharacteristically gentle scene from the popular Grimm's fairy tale, created in 2002 by Fedoskino miniaturist Miroshnichenko - on a custom-made paper-mache box sculpted in the form of a tree stump - signed, measuring 2.76 x 2.76 x 1.57 inches (7.00 x 7.00 x 4.00 cm).

A friendly wolf, can this be true? ..... Little Red Riding Hood is, as yet, too innocent to know that deception is all around us. Sometimes it is more obvious than at other times. The wolf acts playful and the girl is unsuspecting, and has no fear of the big dark animal. There are no warning signs in evidence at this point, the moment of their first encounter in the forest. This enchanting piece of authentic Russian artistry was created by the talented Miroshnichenko of Fedoskino. The artist does an excellent job of making deception appear to be very seductive.

On this one-of-a-kind miniature, classic characters live within a uniquely crafted structure, a tree stump that is actually the box itself ! The entire box has been custom carved from paper-mache into a very natural looking tree stump. The lid features irregular raised ridges around the rim, such as a broken-off tree would produce. The body of the box is completed with several indentations and root protrusions. The sides are painted all around with realistic shades of brown bark and roots that develop into the fern-like grasses growing around the lower portion of the base. The interaction of the two characters is very vividly portrayed and is complemented by excellent facial expression. :: This diminutive Fedoskino work has the greatest of style. :: .
